BAILING OUT OF SPECIFIC GLIDERS

JETTISIONING THE CANOPY

The information below has been taken from POH

K21

FRONT:

· Move the red lever, on top of the instrument panel, to the LEFT

· Push the canopy upwards

· DO NOT TOUCH THE CANOPY SIDE LOCKS (the ones you use to open the canopy on the ground)

BACK:

· Pull back on BOTH canopy side locks

· Push the canopy upwards

SZD-51-1 Junior

· Grasp firmly and push forward simultaneously on:

o Canopy lock handle (with left hand)

o Canopy emergency jettison lever (with right hand)

· Holding both handles push upwards and jettison the canopy

· If the canopy cannot be jettisoned, break the perspex STARTING at the DV panel

SZD-50-3 Puchacz

· Grasp firmly and push forward simultaneously on:

o Canopy lock handle (with left hand)

o Canopy emergency jettison lever (with right hand)

· Holding both handles push upwards and jettison the canopy

· Ideally the occupant of the front seat should push the handles up … if the rear of the canopy is raised first it may slide backwards trapping the occupants. (This information NOT in POH)
